Inspiration from the January Furniture Show

This week more than 20,000 furniture retailers, interior designers and industry experts gathered at the Birmingham NEC for the 2018 January Furniture Show. The industry’s biggest event of the year showcases emerging trends, designers and new products from the 500+ exhibitors. The show has been going for more than 30 years, and this year’s event was as spectacular as ever! We’ve rounded up some of our favourite looks that are inspiring us for the year ahead.

We love the innovative designs by Där Lighting, their stunning winter wonderland scene showcased beautiful and unusual lights for domestic and commercial customers. Big, statement lights that are as much a work of art as they are functional were popular this year; we think this is a great trend for bedrooms where atmosphere is often more important than practicality.

Green, velvet, copper, plants, bold patterns – five big trends for 2018 in one! There was a lot of inspiration from nature at the show, especially in upholstery and textile designs. We expect to see a lot of bedrooms with duvets and curtains looking like this!

Patterned and stencilled wood was an emerging trend this year, with geometric and Moroccan styles the most popular designs seen on drawers, side tables and coffee tables. We’d like to see this come through into bedroom and office furniture designs with fine detailing rather than stencilling.
