Bring the Woods into Your Home

Autumn offers a rich pallette of colours to play with: deep russet, chocolate brown, yellow ochre and metallic copper will bring a feeling of warmth as we endure the first frosts. Try changing the colour theme of your bed sheets and pillow slips to reflect the glorious colours of the season. You can also literally bring the woods into your home: a vase of silver birch twigs makes a beautiful autumn display.

Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has released a collection of tartan wallpaper that looks set to be a big seller this autumn. Choosing a bold pattern like this for your walls is a big step, but a tartan check on curtains or a rug can add a feeling of cosiness to a room - the inhabitants of the Scottish Highlands know all about staying snug during the colder months.
