5 Winter Design Ideas for your Bedroom

Posted on 04/01/2017

Before the introduction of iPads and the internet to their igloos, the Inuit people of Northern Canada had a unique sleeping pattern. In the harsh arctic winter they would sleep up to 14 hours a night and in the busy hunting season provided by summer this would drop to about five. Things aren’t so extreme here in East Anglia, but we’re willing to bet that you spend a bit more time getting out of bed at this time of year. If you are going to be spending more time in your bedroom, you could consider sprucing it up a bit. Check out our 5 winter design ideas for your bedroom.

Mirrors

Let some extra light into your bedroom this winter by adding extra mirrored surfaces. Mirrored wardrobes are some of our most popular products and at this dark time of year it is easy to see why people want to make the most of what light is coming into their bedroom.

Minimalism

The new minimalism is all about stripped pine floorboards and abstract prints on the walls. If your bedroom is looking a little cluttered after Christmas, you might want to think about some new storage options that will allow you to pack away the piles of unintegrated presents and restore some Scandinavian-inspired grace to your room.

Twigs

We’re still a couple of months away from the first daffodils hitting the shops. While you are waiting for spring, one way of adding some winter chic to a room is to fill a vase with long sticks of silver birch or ash.

Bold Colours

A little colour goes a long way. A splash of bold colour adds depth and brightness to a winter room. Check out the coloured glass panels in our Calgary Range.

Curtains

Save the voiles for spring and summer. In winter, there is little more comforting than the velveteen richness of a plush full length curtain. Their insulative properties will keep you cosy on those cold winter nights and they can be pulled open in the morning to reveal sunrise sparkling off the virgin snow.
