5 Tips for Cosy Winter Bedroom Décor

Posted on 21/10/2015
Autumn is underway and it won't be long until Britain is plunged into what could be the coldest winter in 50 years. It's time to get your home ready for winter, and your bedroom is a great place to start. It's where you begin and end your day, and you want it to be a warm and inviting place to switch off and relax in the colder months. Here are our five tips for cosy winter décor.

1. Bright and early

Brighten up your room with a pop of bright colour and don't let the winter blues get you down. Candy pink, bubblegum blue, acid green - whatever makes you smile. Accessories like patterned cushions or a vase of artificial flowers will do the trick, or go all out with a standout item of furniture. Take a look at our Premier range of fitted wardrobes, which comes with a High Gloss finish in modern colours, for inspiration.

2. Layers and layers

Like winter fashion, winter décor is all about layering. Turn your bedroom into a cosy shelter from the cold with textured throws, cushions and pillows. Faux fur is in - this season is heavily influenced by the luxe look - and add a sheepskin rug next to your bed to warm your toes on those chilly mornings.

3. Smoke and mirrors

With the clocks turning back in just a few days, the days are getting shorter and it's time to make the most of the natural light. A large mirror is a stylish statement piece and adds light and depth to a room - that's why our mirrored wardrobes look so great. Hang a mirror above your fireplace to make it an instant focal point.

4. Light it up

When you lose the daylight, replace it with a warm, soft glow. Use twinkling fairy lights and sheer drapes for a delicate, feminine look, or add a sparkle with a glittering chandelier.

5. Smelling of roses

Give your winter look that finishing touch with a bowl of potpourri or scented candles. The seasonal scents of cinnamon and pine needles instantly give your home a cosy winter feel.
